Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport (BOM), the first and only Turkish team representing our country in the highly competitive GT4 European Series with the sponsorship of Supsan, introduced the drivers who will compete in the 2024 season during the pre-season test at the Istanbul Park Track. Preparing for its 16th racing season with BMW race cars, BOM will compete in Europe with the turquoise BMW M4 GT4 race car.
Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport Team Director Ahmet Köseleci stated that they have successfully represented Türkiye in the GT4 European Series for 6 seasons and congratulated his team for the many challenges they overcame, unforgettable memories they created and the third place they won in Europe in the 2023 season. He also added that they will improve themselves further and compete with stability and ambition in the 2024 season where they want to achieve better results.
Ahmet Köseleci stated that each of the pilots in the new season are names who have achieved significant success in their fields, and continued, “This season, Berkay Besler will compete for the 14th championship with the car numbered 12, a BMW M4 GT4, and he will be accompanied by Gabriele Piana, 2023 GT4 European Series champion who achieved great success in motorsports.”
Köseleci also indicated that the experienced racer Yağız Gedik, who achieved 2nd place in 2020 GT4 European Series, and the rising star Pedro Ebrahim will try to cross the finish line in the first place with BOM’s car numbered 11, and added, “BOM will dominate the new season with its strong pilot team and raise our flag.”
BMW Motorsport factory driver Augusto Farfus, who has been in frequent contact with BOM since the 2023 season and has made valuable contributions to the team’s development, expressed his feelings for the new season.
Augusto Farfus expressed his support for BOM with the following words, “As a long-time BMW pilot, I admire every team that drives BMW cars. I have been following the BOM team for a long time and I think they have been very successful in the GT4 challenge. I have always followed the GT4 European Series closely. This season, I’ll follow it more closely because Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport trusted me and gave Pedro a chance. It is very valuable for us that Pedro is a young and fast pilot who will compete for BMW. I am sure that a very successful season awaits us. Berkay Besler
Berkay Besler, one of the young pilots of BOM, has achieved many national and international successes in his racing career, which started with karting. Besler participated in 451 races in total, with 285 races abroad and 166 races in Türkiye; he has been on the podium 215 times and achieved 13 championships. Besler’s star continues to shine, with his latest achievement being the third place in the Silver Category in 2023 GT4 European Series.
Yağız Gedik
Gedik has been a Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport pilot since 2017 and he achieved significant success on the most important tracks both in Türkiye and Europe. He has successfully represented Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport team many times, won the 2017 Turkish Track Championship Super Group championship and finished second in the 2020 GT4 European Series Pro/AM category.
Gabriele Piana
Italian pilot Gabriele Piana started his career with karting in 1994. He decided to continue his career in motorsports in 2013 and achieved more than 60 wins and secured a place on the podium more than 100 times in the GT races. After his first car race in 2014, Piana worked as a Mercedes-AMG factory driver for three years. His achievements include ADAC GT4 Germany championship for three times, European GT4 championship and 24H race win.
Pedro Carvalho Ebrahim
Brazilian pilot Pedro Carvalho Ebrahim started his career at the age of 11 with karting. He achieved championships in the KZ class at the age of 13 and he won third place in NASCAR Brazil at the age of 15. In 2022, Pedro participated in the Brazilian Endurance Championship in the P1 class with a modified Ginetta LMP3. After participating in several young driver programs, Pedro will now compete in Europe in the new season with BOM.
